Hola! I am Leslie Rider, a native Spanish speaker originally from Peru. The first time I came to the USA, I traveled to a small town in Minnesota for an exchange program where I met my husband. We lived in Minnesota for 3 years before moving to Colorado. We have a beautiful bilingual toddler and 2 cuddly cats.
When I am not teaching, I love to dance salsa, hike, and camp. My husband and I travel to the Boundary Waters and Peru every year.
I discovered my love for teaching when I was a kid. My mom is a teacher and I greatly admired her work. After working as a teacher for more than 10 years, I founded an online Spanish school Amauta Language Center. Amauta was born out of my passion for teaching and the desire to make learning a new language accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Today I work part-time as a Spanish teacher, and part-time at Amauta.
I have gone through the process of learning a second language and I know how challenging it can be. A good teacher makes a world of difference, and I want to be that teacher for your children at Bixby. My goal is to make their learning journey as fun and easy as possible.
